Off To Las Vegas!

Oh yeeeeah, Vegas!
How was everyone's Christmas?
Mines... boring. It's no fun being broke and not buying gifts - I'm a greedy person but this year I really had the want to buy gifts for people. LOL. I just felt bad for all the things my parents gave me so I was planning on saving money up and getting them a Spa treatment, hopefully by Valentines day next year.
Looking at the treatment, I want one now... haha. Umph.

Anyways, here's my FOTD from Christmas Eve. My signature smokey look - so nothing new, really :)

Hola!
Quick FOTD just to test out these new lashes I got and a sample of cornflower pigment.
The pigment is okay - I thought the color payoff would be much brighter but wasn't =/
Ah wells... I got 2 new mascaras and omg, they're awesome. I have a whole bunch of mascara reviews, I know - but I'm a mascara-ho! Can't help it. =P

Review: Wet 'N' Wild Mega Lash Mascara

NAME:
+Megalash Mascara in Black (only shade they had)

PROMISE/ADVERTISE CLAIM:
+MegaLash maximizes every lash with volume, body and length, length, length!

The special extending formula bonds to lashes so they're noticeably longer, while body-building elements promote thicker lashes and long-lasting wear without smudging or clumping.
  • Body-building formula volumizes and lengthens
  • Creates thick, natural-looking lashes without smudges or clumps
  • Ophthalmologist-tested mascara is contact lens safe

PRICE:
+$1.99!

WHERE I BOUGHT IT:
+Rite Aid (My Longs Drugs didn't sell Wet N Wild)

PACKAGING:
+Small package but convenient for traveling and not bulky and big like other mascaras.

PROS/LIKES:
+First off, the price of this is amazing! LOL. I dunno where else I would find a cheap mascara.
+Short bristles help promote lash separation and this mascara has that. So definitely, no clumping.
+No weird smell
+Created a natural looking lashes
+Soft Lashes.
+No smudging and after sleeping with it on, hardly any flakes all over my eyes.

CONS/DISLIKES:
+I'm a volume type of girl - I love my lashes to look dramatic and this didn't create the va-va-voom I look for in mascaras. I meticulously put a lot of mascara on, naturally (I love mascara) - about 4/5 coats and it did lenghten a tiny bit and gave a bit of volume but no where near L'Oreal HIP or even L'Oreal Telescopic.
+The brush itself is too long, in my opinion. It was a bit difficult getting to my corner lashes without it getting on the skin.
+Not a lot of different color choices - like brown.

OVERALL:
+I think this is pretty well for a $1.99 mascara. Although it didn't give me va-va-voom lashes, it did give a pretty natural look (so it lived up to it's claim for that) and if you're meticulous in putting mascara as I am - there should hardly be any clumping. The bristles are short anyways, so I don't see how that would happen either way. This would be great usage for lower lashes, since it doesn't apply so thickly - it'll give nice length without the spider-look appearance.

BUY AGAIN?
+No. But for that price, I wouldn't mind shelling out a few bucks for it as a travel product.

YOU'LL LIKE IF...
+Broke. LOL.
+Like a natural look.
+Need some volume/length to lashes (I'm assuming for naturally long-lashed folks)

YOU'LL DISLIKE LIKE IF...
+Looking for a very volumizing mascara (I'm assuming for folks with short lashes).
+Prefer brown/waterproof mascara.

RATING:
+3/5

Pink Lemonade FOTD

Kay. Just came back from a dinner with all the ladies.
Unfortunately, my camera is crap and no photos with them but it was a hella funny night despite my sickness. We went to El Torrito and then Bettys - interesting night bar/club. Had nude, Fafi-like cartoon photos touching their poonani. Me and Tina were recreating it. Good times. But the place was wack since hardly anyone was there.

Before I went to dinner, I hit Longs and Rite-Aid for my makeup fix. I've been hearing some things about Wet 'N' Wild's eye stuff - so review on that soon since I bought a few things from them!

Onto le makeup (a few were taken after the club, so you notice no lipgloss and eye creasing on some)...

Simple Look w/ Bright Lips FOTD

Hello.
I did this look some days ago because I'm contemplating on re-creating it for my friend's birthday when we go to Las Vegas.
I've never worn bright pink lips out in public before even though I want too.
I like the look. My fluidline is really dry, so if you notice lately - my liner is so wonky. It's not me! Haha. I have steady hands. It's my fluidline... the more dryer it becomes, the harder it is to get a smooth line across. And I have no money to buy another one =[
And I need new false lashes. DON'T ever buy the new NYC lashes. I dunno what the hell they've done to change the length and the band used but I hate how they look now. I buy Ardell now. But anyways...
here's one look:

Aqualine Liquidlast FOTD

I've done this look once on my Birthday this past year.
Great thing about using MAC's liquidlast liners as an eyeshadow is that they never, ever budge and if you're one of them drunk hoebags [*raises hand*] and sleep your hungover self at someone else's house - you'll still have fresh looking makeup. Haha. This has happen to me on my bday. Woke up at my friends and we ended up going out to eat but I looked just as good as the night before - no lie.

Bad thing about liquidlast as an eyeshadow - it can be a bitch to work with. It takes a while for it to fully dry so if you accidently open your eye - it gets all over the place and hard to remove (like with me. poop).

Review: L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Extension Mascara

Soooo...I've been hearing some things about this mascara and was itching to try it out because I'm a huge L'Oreal mascara fan. Until - yeah, read on:

Product: 2.5/5
Packaging: 2.5/5
The promise: 80% longer lashes
The price: $8-9USD
Overall: 3/5
Would Purchase Again?: HELL NO! Well... maybe... lol.

The Pros: This mascara does lengthen decently well. And there aren't any visible clumps if used correctly. The wands are decent aswell, the bristles are seperated which help with the lengthening of lashes, imo. The "fiber-wig-tub-thingy" aka the white side, is probably the best I've tried in extending the lashes.

The Cons: I think this product has been overly hyped from whoever hyped it up, haha. It reminds me a hell of a lot like Maybeline's XXL mascara, but the L'Oreal does beat it a bit in the lengthening department. My gripe is the volume of this - there is none whatsoever. Personally, I think a mascara that just lengthens but doesn't give any type of volume is crap because not unless you have thick lashes to begin with, it really doesn't give a significant difference to your appearance. They made my lashes look puney... long, puney twigs! The actual package is sorta big and clunky too. I didn't like the feel of it at all. Oh, and since it's "tube" mascara - I guess another form of fiber wig - you have to use warm water to remove it. Not makeup remover :[ For a girl who likes to take all my makeup off with wipes, that is utter crap. Haha.

Overall: I don't think anyone should really waste their money on this unless all you want out of a mascara is lengthening. The only thing I would probably use is the fiber-whatever but stick with my L'Oreal HIP mascara to add volume. If you liked Maybelline's XXL mascara, you'll like this. But if you don't - skip this product.

Photo Swatch:

That photo looks convincing, haha. But it still doesn't change my overall opinion on this product. Anyone got different results or other mascara recommendations? Lemme know.

Free Mary Kay Mascara

I love freebie sites... full of free stuff! Haha.

So this is for my lovelies, free Mary Kay Mascara. I'd advise making an email account on gmail just in case you could get spammed a lot.

Never tried MK stuff (reminds me of Tammy Faye) but free is free and I love mascara.
I had found one for the new L'Oreal tube mascara but it had ran out in just a few days =[

And also free magazine subscription to Nylon magazine, might as well throw that in there too, LOL.

Anyways, random post. I know. Haha.
These are legit, no worries - I've done them before without hassle or spam.

Hola, Brolas!

Heya, sorry for no updates this week. I was a bit anti-computer during my Thanksgiving break
(happy belated thanksgiving!).

I'm about to watch that Britney Spears documentary, she seems lonely. How sad.. You would think she was Jesus with all the hype around it? Either way, I heard she's doing a concert next year and I'm definitely going. Her latest album
Circus is kinda wee-zeak. I love "If U Seek Amy" aka the "F.U.C. K. me" song from the album but Black Out was really her best. ANYWHO....

This is a rushed FOTD because it wasn't neat and I experimented a bit with the colors as well, hope you all enjoy either way :].

Most likely a MAC Tendertone in Hush, Hush

Not my favorite but wearable.
Lately, I've been doing a lot of nude/beige colors with shimmer in the inner corner eyes. Then just a good winged black liner, lots of mascara and a really nice pink-flushed out blush for a glam-natural look. It's been my go-to look. I might take a photo of it one day but my camera doesn't pick up nude shades accurately... so I've been putting it off.

Oh, and I was practicing makeup looks on my friends. One of them (the bday girl) is really picky about what she wants to wear. She wants a dark look (think pink and black smokey) and on her skin-tone (very white, LOL), it's way too heavy and she doesn't like my more flattering/natural (think peach and brown) look I did for her. I'mma have to keep convincing her. Haha. So that's it for now.

Experimental Bright Blues FOTD!

Oh my loves, sorry no update this week. I was seriously on stress mode with exams and essays due for school this week. Unfortunately, I didn't do so well in my exam for nutrition =[ I suck at memorizing stuff now - I use to be really good at sinking in information. Guess that's what happens when you stop reading for pleasure and get another hobby - makeup! Ha.

Anyways, so I wanted to play with my makeup so badly and now that my essay is done and over with - I decided to try out a look. It's a recreation from a photo I saw. I would post the photo but it in no way did turned out the same color/look as the chicks... so to less embarrass myself, I won't post it. Haha.

Oh yeah. So I got my Make Up For Ever HD Foundation sample and lemme say.... meh!
I don't think it's the best thing ever but it does do well in hiding those imperfections. Too bad the SA at Sephora sucked at matching my skin with the right shade. I initially was eyeing the #173 and was bit weirded off when she was picking out lighter shades and ended up sampling me #155. I know I go very white in winter but damn, not ivory! Thank Jebus I asked for the #173 because that totally matched me perfectly. Only thing I didn't like is that it sorta made me feel on the dryer side. I think I'll stick to my L'Oreal True Match foundation and Sally Hansen mix... don't fix what ain't broken.

FOTD + Hair Dilemma!

A look out made out of boredom.

Face:
Revlon Colorstay concealer
L'Oreal True Tatch blush

Eyes: [all MAC]
Painterly Paintpot [entire eye lid]
Mylar [highlight]
Brown Script [crease]
Freshwater [lid]
Typographic [outer lid/crease - blended]

Espresso for brows
Peacock glitterliner [next to winged liner - not really pictured]
Blacktrack fluideline
L'oreal Telescopic/HIP voluminous

Lips:
Max Factor the purple duo
MAC Sugar Trance

I liked it very much in person and it captured almost true to how it looks in person, but my camera is majorly old so 99% of my pictures never turn out how they look in real life.

Anyway, hair dilemma. I have no idea how to style my bangs and it's pissing me off and second-guessing my new cut and wishing I hadn't done it. LOL, baaaah. After work, I'mma go get hair dye and dye it all black again since I know dark color hides dry ends better and makes it shinnier looking.

I dunno if my bangs are still too long but I don't want to go shorter because now I do want my side-swept bangs back, haha. I'm so indessisive when it comes to hair but oh well. Ugh. I wish I had naturally straight hair instead of my curly mess. And it takes a full year for my hair to grow back... it's like over an inch every 2 months of growth. Grr. I'm off.

Pure Luxe Swatch, Review + FOTN

Okay, I'm not sleeping so I decided to swatch PL that I just got in the mail today!

Initial reaction: wow! I'm really impressed with the amount they give you for only $1. It's enough to last me 30+ looks. I never tried mineral before and found it to be softer to the touch than MAC pigments. Reminded me a lot like Jesse's Girl's eye dust (which I use to love but now I hate)... so we'll see how my love for them will venture out later in life, ha.

(All swatches were Foiled using Jesse's Girl Eye Dust Transformer.)
Let's begin...

Smug: is described as a hot pink with blue interface. It reminds me a lot like MAC's Stars N' Rocket. Very pretty color and an alternative dupe to MAC.
Alloy: is a bronze metal and these samples cost $2 as oppose to the $1. The color is a gorgeous gold, it's described as khaki with yellow undertones but since it's metallic - looks gold.
Rococo: a very nice basic, true blue color that's not as vibrant as "Blueberry" but all in the same very bright and fun.
Sour Apple: is part of their brighter collection and this color takes on a neon-green look. Very pretty and fun and I think one of my "loudest" looking color that really jumps at you.
Russet: I was on the lookout for a nice burgundy color and found this and felled in love, it's really gorgeous and makes a great smokey look. I tried it on my lip as well and it's really awesome, multi-use color.
Blueberry: Perhaps, my 2nd vibrant color that's like no other. You gotta be brave to wear a color like this, haha.
Charm: it reminds me of "Smug" in that it sorta has blue undertones but this isn't as bright. A nice, basic pink color that would look great with purple or blue.
Misfit: not photo well here but it reminds me of MAC's Bitter & Chartreuse in it's bright lime color shade. I love it. I can't get enough of lime shades.
Risque: a dark red, almost burgundy color that's nice but I prefer "Russet" over it but it'll do great also in a smokey look.
Ouch!: fushia! A lot like MAC's Bright Fushia... pretty color and I'm a fan of fushia, so this is a must.
Tart: I honestly don't know why I bought tart. I'm not so much of a green fan besides the brights but the "Old" look it gave out was nice. It's a pretty shade but not my favorite out of the bunch, but that's just my prefernce over bright colors talking.
Amethyst: I think this and Charm are similar in person... it's lilac color is nothing wow worthy. I was expecting something new but it's like any other purple shade I've seen. They're selections and colors in purple don't differ much.
Grape: another bright color along with Green Apple and Blueberry. My swatch was wetter than usual but the color is very bright as I expected it to be and very true to purple then any of the other purples I've seen. Gorgeous color.
OMG!: not kidding, I seriously said "OMG" when I swatched this. I've been wanting a red eyeshadow in forever and this was perfect. Gorgeous color times 10. I'm definitely purchasing more of this in the future.
Sunny Side Up: I just bought this yellow just because... I own MAC's Chrome Yellow and this is similar in color and matte texture. I like it and this is an alternative/dupe if you don't have the MAC one. I'm not wowed by it because of that fact.
Surfer Girl: the swatch doesn't do it justice, again. But it's a pale light blue, sea-color and it's perty. Reminds me of mermaid color.
-----------------------------------------------------
And here is my FOTN testing out "Green Apple".

I used it wet, and I won't do that again with these... looks chunky.
Overall: I'm impressed with Pure Luxe and would recommend them because of their large color choices and the good prices.
